Fine Dining at Lacuna

I had the pleasure of attending a private dinner held at The Maslow Hotel, to sample the unique dishes on the Lacuna Bistro’s new menu.

The evening turned out to be perfect in the company of fellow bloggers, a talented Kaya Jones from Pussycat Dolls and Executive Chef Dallas Orr.

Lacuna’s private dining room is enclosed with glass and overlooks the garden. This makes a unique setting for a private dining experience. The show kitchen also allows guests to interact with the chefs.

Chef Dallas prepared a six course meal for us to experience his culinary skills. For starters we had Cream of Cauliflower soup ( from the winter menu). One of the best smooth and creamy soups I’ve tasted. This was followed by a flavoursome Beetroot & goats cheese salad with walnut pesto.

The Prawn Laksa, a warm and spicy soup with prawn and fine noodles, tasted so perfect. I love Asian food and this soup was too divine. ( No pic due to excitement from first bite 😀 )

Mains included : Roasted salmon on wilted Greens with Horseradish Mustard Sauce. A unique combination of subtle flavours with a perfectly grilled salmon.

Roast Chicken supreme with Sautéed Potato & Grilled Corn Puree. I loved the tasty potatoes in this dish.

Each dish on the menu is paired with a wine .This completes the meal perfectly. The best was left for last and of course it had to be the decadent Tonka bean panna cotta & strawberry ice-cream. For me both the ice-cream and the panna cotta could be enjoyed separately as both tasted that divine.

An evening of divine food, wine and Kaya Jones. She kept us captivated with her life story and her steps to progress. Kaya will definitely be back to Lacuna when in SA again. And for those of you searching for a culinary experience like no other, look no further than Lacuna at The Maslow Hotel.

The Maslow Hotel is situated on the Corner of Grayston Drive & Rivonia Road, Sandton, 2031, Gauteng, South Africa
